Riding the ski lift . . .
Riding the ski lift through the Cornish Alps
This work is a slow motion film loop that depicts travelling through the “China Clay area” of Cornwall, known as the Cornish Alps.
It attempts to engage with three key themes: an exploration of the un-cinematic through the use of single slow motion panning shots juxtaposed with fixed position shots, how we perceive both place and image as ‘environment’ and as ‘event’ and the script-visual creation of an other, virtual space – one that is situated at the intersection of our thoughts and the representations we encounter.
The text is taken from Jean-Luc Godard’s ‘Eloge de l’amour.’ The audio is the sound inside of ski lift in the French Alps.
